The Wolverine Football team saw the end of an incredible season this weekend with nine overall wins and only one regular-season loss putting them at number one in the district and sending them on the 2B state playoff game.
“It was a tremendous regular season,” Head Coach Brock Hauck said. ” I’m very proud of everyone. Our goal from the start was to win the league and make it to the state playoffs. This group accomplished that goal.”
The Wolverines lost their first game of the season against South Whidbey by just four points but went on to win every other game, including six shut outs.
Friday Harbor battled it out against Lake Roosevelt in the first round of state playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 16, in a close game but ultimately lost 19-14.
Hauck said that he hadn’t prepared the team enough for the playoff game, but that the Wolverines still battled through all four quarters and had a chance to win up until the last few minutes.
“The loss hurts tremendously,” Hauck said. “I know how hard everyone has worked. Unfortunately, it just didn’t show in the outcome of the game.”
