The Friday Harbor High School Wolverine grapplers took on Concrete and Darrington on Wednesday, Dec. 7, losing to Concrete by a match score of 30-33. The team was hampered by having low members this year and having to forfeit some of the weight class match ups.
On Saturday the team traveled to Bellevue, Washington and participated in the Iron Sharpens Iron tournament where James Guard and Jesse Payne both wrestled to second place finishes. Hunter Rustad won his first match at the tournament but had to pull out of further matches because of an injury sustained in that win. Weston Swirtz got a win for fifth place in the 220-pound class, and the sole girl on the team won the “Round Robin” with three pins.
The team wrestles again this Thursday, Dec. 15 in the Friday Harbor High School gym.
