Friday Harbor’s Wolverines kept the Orcas Vikings at bay during Friday night’s game on Jan. 12. The Wolverines had home court advantage, but the visitor stands were packed, cheering on the Vikings.
Orcas had a 1-point lead at the end of the first quarter when the score was 15-16. The Wolverines leaped ahead, scoring 17 points in the second quarter. The Vikings scored 6. The score at halftime was 32-22.
The Wolverines remained strong after halftime, scoring almost instantly. The Vikings scored 15 points in the third quarter, not far behind the 16 points scored by the Wolverines. The ending score of the third quarter was 48-37, with Friday Harbor holding on to the lead.
The Wolverines won with a final score of 64-49.
Friday Harbor also had a big win against LaConner on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 63-37. They have five more games in the season, the next being an away game Tuesday, Jan. 16 against Mount Vernon Christian. The next home game is Friday, Jan. 19 against Darrington.
