On Dec. 17, Wolverine Wrestling hosted their first home match since before the pandemic. Teams from Concrete, Darrington, and South Whidbey boarded the ferry to compete at Friday Harbor High School on the Wednesday before Christmas. Ascend Wrestling, the island’s youth wrestling team, also made a guest appearance.

Tad and Sabrina Bremer are the coaches for the Wolverines, and the Ascend coaches are Shane and Lance Bison and Travis Berwald.

First year wrestler Ash Hamlin won his first match. Returning stand out Dylan Lee won both of his matches and showed dominance over his league rivals. And senior stand out, Nick Chambers, defeated his opponent by pin.

The Wolverines will have a rematch against these same opponents on January 15 at South Whidbey High School.
