The Friday Harbor Wolverines track team has been on the run, outperforming their personal records, and placing both second and first along the way.
On April 9, at a meet in Bellingham, coach Shannon Plummer said all the athletes performed great, and three of them took place in the steeplechase race for the first time.
“The girls tied for 29 with four team points, scored by Katie Place in the hurdles, in all I am very proud of them competing at this level,” Plummer said. He added that several personal records were set at that meet.
On April 19, Friday Harbor boys and girls finished second overall out of 10 schools at the meet, according to Lee Ann Russel, mother of one of the athletes.
On April 24, the team attended the meet at Lummi High School, winning the seven-team invite.
“The team earned first place in boys and girls, with a lot of personal records and team placed all over the board. I’m very proud of the shining stars,” Plummer said.
The Wolverines traveled to La Conner to take on fellow league members in the championship on May 1.
