Tigers football has pounced into the season.
The juniors, ages 11-12, are first in their division and have won all five of their games this year, without their opponents scoring any points. Coach Shawn Kleine said they are looking at their third straight championship this year.
“These kids have worked really hard to be where they are,” said Kleine, who coaches the team with Kasey Anderson, Justin Nibler and Jason Garcia. “Many of these kids, we have had since they were 5. It’s more of a family than a team.”
The freshmen team, ages 9-10, are 3-4, fourth in their division and coached by Rob Ross and Cody Feliz. The peewees, ages 7-8, are 5-2, second in their division and coached by Sean Griffith-Head, Andy Flierl, Gregory Moses and Daniel Stanton.
The Tigers are part of the North Cascadia Youth Football League and compete against 13 other teams. Playoffs begin Oct. 27 and the championship, on Nov. 10. Kleine said the juniors are ready.
“We feel confident going into playoffs,” he said “The kids have been here before.”
