Friday Harbor boys soccer team had two wins this week, Sept. 17 against La Conner with a 8-0 victory, and Sept. 19 against Shoreline Christian at 7-1.
Coach Andy Duke said he was “thrilled” by the offensive work this week, which worked so efficiently that five different players made goals in the game against Shoreline.
“It’s coming together,” Duke said. “We’ve got a new system and they’re really getting a handle on how to play it.”
Assistant coach Kevin Porter echoed similar sentiments, and said that when playing against teams where they score often, they like to put in the less experienced players to give them more exposure.
“We want to pull out some of the veteran players and put in the younger ones so they can learn the system and really get a grasp on it,” Porter said.
According to Porter, Thursday’s game against La Conner was similar in that many different players scored. La Conner was down two people, so Friday Harbor also took out two players for a nine-person game.
Monday’s game against Cedar Park Christian was moved to October, so their next game will be away against Providence Classical Christian Sept. 23.
