This year, FHBSA is excited to begin an inter-island schedule with teams from Orcas and Lopez and to offer a pre-season clinic with Fletcher Vynne on March 16-17. Vynne, a graduate assistant baseball coach at Seattle University, is assistant coach of the West Coast League’s Wenatchee AppleSox.

After an outstanding prep career at Friday Harbor, Vynne — Class of 2003 — went on to play for the University of British Columbia, helping the team win its first-ever NAIA World Series in 2006. He was a four-time All-Academic Award winner at UBC and won the Jeff Francis Award in 2007 and 2008. He was second on the team in batting average his junior year and led in home runs his senior season, when he served as team captain.

Those who register by March 13 (March 20 for T-ball) will save $10-$15 on each registration. Family discounts and full or partial scholarships are also available. To encourage early online registration, a “Pay Later” option has been added for those who do not have the full funds or who do not like paying by credit card.

Registration forms are available online and at Friday Harbor Elementary School but will only be accepted in person March 3 and 4 from 3-5 p.m. at the Elementary School Commons; March 16 and 17 from 3-5 p.m. at Friday Harbor High School’s Hall Gym; and March 20 at the Elementary School field during tryouts. There is no mail-in option this year.
