The PeaceHealth Peace Island Family Practice clinic is holding a one-day back-to-school sports physical clinic for established patients on Friday, Aug. 11.
Visiting PeaceHealth pediatrician Rachel Westerfield, DO, will see patients for 20-minute appointments between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The cost of the exams is $75; typically insurance does not cover this. The exams are required in order for youths, grades six through 12, to participate in extracurricular sports. The exams can screen athletes for potential illness or conditions that may limit or restrict their ability to participate in a sport, or conditions that may be aggravated by intense exercise.
Learn more about why sports physicals are important in this PeaceHealth Healthy You blog post. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Westerfield, please call the clinic at 360-401-8496.
About PeaceHealth: PeaceHealth, based in Vancouver, Washington, is a not-for-profit Catholic health system offering care to communities in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. PeaceHealth has approximately 16,000 caregivers, a medical group practice with more than 1,100 providers and 10 medical centers serving both urban and rural communities throughout the Northwest. In 1890, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace founded what has become PeaceHealth. The Sisters shared expertise and transferred wisdom from one medical center to another, always finding the best way to serve the unmet need for healthcare in their communities. Today, PeaceHealth is the legacy of the founding Sisters and continues with a spirit of respect, stewardship, collaboration and social justice in fulfilling its Mission.
