Local prep sports teams in playoffs this week

It's playoff time for local prep sports teams: Baseball, girls tennis, golf, lacrosse, softball, track.

It’s playoff time for local prep sports teams.

Baseball: The Friday Harbor Wolverines (17-5) won the Northwest 1A/2B league title for the sixth consecutive year. They play Cascade Christian in a single-elimination Tri-District opener, May 15 at Sehome.

Golf: Friday Harbor Wolverines Quinn Bune, Megan Cuomo, William King, Taylor Molloy, Tyler McKee and Riley Rousar compete in the District tournament May 13 at North Bellingham. Twenty male golfers and eight female golfers will advance to the Tri-District tournament on May 18 at Eagles Pride in Tacoma.

Lacrosse: The Skagit Conference champion San Juan Dragons (11-2) host Gig Harbor (6-7) in the first round of Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association District II playoffs, May 15, 7 p.m., at Friday Harbor High School.

Softball: The Friday Harbor Wolverines (12-8) play in a double-elimination round at District on May 15 at Janicki Field in Sedro-Woolley; they face Lynden Christian or Nooksack. Game time is noon. Win or lose, they play again at 2 p.m. Three teams from this tournament will advance to the Tri-District tournament May 22, again at Janicki Field.

Girls Tennis: Friday Harbor sophomore Rebecca Leff makes her second consecutive appearance at the Tri-District tournament on May 21 at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle.

Track: The Friday Harbor Wolverines are at the District meet at Lynden Christian on May 12 and May 14. Leading finishers advance to the Tri-District track meet at King’s High School on May 20 and 22.
