Girls’ basketball faces Sequim

The Wolverines girls basketball team fought hard but lost in a nail-biting game against Sequim on Saturday, Jan. 20.

By the end of the first half of Saturday’s game, the score was 13-18, with Sequim slightly ahead. Friday Harbor answered back in the second half, tying up the game for a heartbeat. Sequim scored again, and again, and the Wolverines tried to keep the pace, with players like seniors Kiana Woods and Savana Hoffman continuing to score throughout the third and fourth quarters.

As the final buzzer rang ending the game, the Wolverines were still behind, however, with a score of 44-32. The girls are tied with Orcas for third in their league, behind Mt. Vernon, and LaConner, with four conference wins and three losses, and eight overall wins and nine losses. The next, and last, home game will be Friday, Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the Turnbull gym. They face Orcas, Jan. 30, on Orcas. The postseason begins Feb. 10.
