Friday Harbor High School athletics was back in action this past week with a full schedule of games for both softball and baseball.
Baseball
The Friday Harbor baseball team won both games in a home-and-home series against Darrington High School, starting with a 6–1 victory on Tuesday in Darrington.
“It was a good week for conference games,” said head coach Jon Smith.
According to Smith, Jackson Feliz delivered a dominant performance on the mound Tuesday, pitching a complete game and racking up an impressive 16 strikeouts.
The Wolverines then bested the Loggers again on Thursday, 8–1. Triston Bremer followed Feliz’s lead, pitching a complete game of his own and striking out 11.
At the plate, Henry Pope had an outstanding week, going 4-for-6 with two doubles, four RBIs, two walks, and two runs scored. Parker Aylward came through in the clutch during Thursday’s game, driving in three runs with a pair of key base hits. Harrison Edge also contributed offensively, collecting three hits on the week—including a double and a triple—while driving in two runs and scoring twice.
Up next: Friday Harbor will face Mount Vernon Christian in another home-and-home series, hosting Tuesday and traveling for Thursday’s game.
Softball
The Friday Harbor softball team also faced Darrington in a home-and-home series. The Wolverines dropped both games, losing 4–2 on Tuesday in Darrington and 15–7 on Thursday at home.
Up next: Softball will have the week off from games and return to action April 29 at home against Concrete, followed by a road game against the Lions on May 1.
