Friday Harbor girls’ soccer wins last four games

The lady Wolverines’ soccer team kept busy with three games in a four-day period this week.

“We are in second place in the league after a tough 3-1 loss at league rival La Conner last week,” said Paul Hopkins, girls’ soccer head coach.

The team rebounded with a 6-0 win against Orcas on Thursday, Sept. 21, and a 9-0 win against Concrete on Sept. 27.

On Thursday, Sept. 28, the girls played against Mount Vernon Christian and won, 4-0. They played a non-league match at Cross Point on Saturday, Sept. 30, also winning, 2-1.

“Cross Point is the team who derailed the Wolverines at district last year,” Hopkins warned.

The biggest game of the year, he said, happens on Thursday, Oct. 5, on the home Linde Fields. They will play against La Conner at 4:30 p.m.

“Friday Harbor has the chance to tie for first with a victory,” Hopkins said.
