Five Wolverines advanced to post-season play in spring as Friday Harbor thrashed the Coupeville Wolves at the district playoffs, Saturday at Coupeville.

Senior Peter Duggins defeated Coupeville’s Ben Hayes and Conor Tasoff in succession, 6-4, 6-1, and 6-3, 6-3, respectively, to claim the district’s No. 1 singles slot at the quad-district playoffs in May.

In doubles action, Friday Harbor’s Josh Lehr and Mike Sandifer crushed Jeff Boyer and Garrett Knell of Coupeville 6-0, 6-1 to set up an all-Friday Harbor showdown for the district’s No. 1 and No. 2 seeds.

Pablo Lopez and Zach Milkis dispatched the Wolves’ Nic Anthony and Jordan Armstrong 6-1, 6-0, to advance to a grudge match against teammates Lehr and Sandifer.

With an automatic berth into quad-districts on the line, Lehr and Sandifer clipped teammates Lopez and Milkis 7-5 in a tie-breaker to grab the first set and advantage in the match. They cruised 6-2 in the second set to claim the No. 1 seed and berth at the quad-district playoffs.

As No. 2 seed, Lopez and Milkis must win a pre-quad-district “play-in” match to advance to the regional playoff later this spring.
