The Journal reported that the girls and boys basketball teams had lost their first few conference games, but that reported on only three of the four games, leaving out the conference game against Concrete Dec. 10. Both the boys and girls won their game that day.
The girls came in at 61-39 and the boys came in at 60-29.
“We did not feel like we played up to our ability, but we were happy to get our first win with a 61-39 victory over Concrete,” said Coach Sue Grenfell. “It was nice to have three players – Mia Blackmon, McKenna Clark, and Sheya Welty – all in double digits in terms of points scored. We look forward to a chance for a better defensive game against them next time we play them.”
With many games canceled due to weather, ferries, and the flu, the basketball season has been off-schedule, but the teams are ready to get back in the game after the break.
Coach Collin Williamson said, “Right now we’re refreshed and ready to play after our winter break!”
