On April 13, the Friday Harbor Wolverines faced the Orcas Vikings on their home turf for a doubleheader, but after winning the first game, 14-6, the second game was called due to rain. The second game ended with the Vikings up 3-1 against the Wolverines.
There will potentially be a makeup game against the Wolverines.
On April 9, Rio Black, senior, and Marshall Clark, junior, pitched nearly perfect games for the Friday Harbor Wolverines boys baseball team during a doubleheader against Concrete Monday, April 9, with the first game at 12:30 p.m. and the second game at 2:30 p.m.
“Rio Black pitched a complete game,” coach Rich Warin said.
Black only let one run get by during the first game. Junior Yadir Plaza hit his first career home run, Warin added. The final score of Game 1 was 7-1.
The teams took a break before warming up once again for Game 2 on the Hartland Fields. The second game got underway a little after 3 p.m. Clark stepped up to the mound for the first five innings of what ended up being a shutout. Sophomore Jaden Jones got a base hit and was able to round the bases for home during the first inning, paving the way for another Wolverine win. The second game ended with a final score of 10-1.
The next home game is scheduled to be a doubleheader against Darrington on the Friday Harbor Hartland Fields on April 20. The first game is at 1:15 p.m., and the second one is at 3:15 p.m.
