Ronnel “Ron” Sollinger passed away on April 10, 2017, peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family. Ron lived to be 89 years old.
Ron was born on July 26, 1927 to Beatrice and Gene Sollinger in Everson, Washington. Ron’s family moved to Cashmere where he attended schools there and worked in the orchards until he enlisted in the Navy on January 7, 1944.
After getting out of the Navy Ron met and married Geraldine “Jerry” Malone on September 11, 1948 and spent 63 wonderful years together until Jerry passed away in 2012. They had four children, Chuck (Marianne), Dennis (deceased), Vickie (Gary) and Sandy (Blake). They lived in Wenatchee raising their children until relocating to Friday Harbor in 1970 where they ran the family business, Sollinger Floor Covering. Ron sold the family business in 1990 so that he and Jerry could retire and move back to the Wenatchee area.
Ron was devoted to his family as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and also enjoyed spending time with his extended family and friends. Ron enjoyed reading his western books, working on his wood working projects and spending time with his friends.
Ron also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jenny (Scott), Kelly (Jennifer), Angela (Justin), Jason, Steve (Alyson), Michael (Cassie) and Krista along with numerous great grandchildren.
Please join us for a grave site service at the Cashmere Cemetery on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. with a get together following the service at the American Legion Post 64 at 401 Sunset Hwy, Cashmere, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post. Ward’s Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth is in charge of the arrangements.
