With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marsha May Goodale, nee Collado, who left this world peacefully at home on San Juan Island on January 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 78 years old.
Marsha was born on March 14, 1946, in Whittier, California, to John Collado and Thelma Mary Hill, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up in California and completed her education in high school. It was in Pasadena, California, where she met the love of her life, Daniel Goodale. The two married on June 30, 1975, beginning a beautiful journey together that lasted 50 years.
Marsha was a gifted artist whose creativity touched every aspect of her life. She crafted whimsical clay sculptures, sewed cherished clothing for her children and grandchildren, and designed stunning floral centerpieces, wreaths, and other decorative pieces. Her love of gardening transformed her home into a sanctuary, where every corner was filled with beauty. She especially loved crafting alongside her dear friend Jean and her daughters, creating treasured memories with each project.
In 2002, Marsha and Dan settled into their dream home at Dream Lake Rd, in Friday Harbor,WA, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family gatherings. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her grandchildren at her beloved lake home, always with her faithful golden retriever, Honey, by her side.
Marsha is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel Goodale; her daughters Mary (Nathan Saxe) and their children Sierra, Andrea, Timothy, Theodore, Corin and Colette; Natalie Goodale (and her children Carter and Gracie), and Elaine Piatek (and her children Lucy and Jackson). She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Roger Miller, in 2020. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Collado (Sue) of San Juan Island, and her sister, Carole Rieth of Medford, Oregon.
