Lavon Denise Williams | 1960-2021

Lavon Denise Williams left this earth suddenly while attending church on Sunday morning, Aug. 15, 2021, at the age of 61. She had complications with her heart due to a nearly 10 month battle with lung cancer. She was in her happy place, surrounded by God’s glory, the way she prayed to go when her time would come.

Lavon was born on Feb. 10, 1960, in Superior, Montana, to Penny Geraghty who soon married Myron “Whitey” Williams and raised Lavon as his own in Friday Harbor, Washington.

She was the eldest of her five brothers and sisters: Ron, Wendy, Cherie, Robin and Myron. Much of her early years included tending to the home, helping with her siblings, riding her horse and becoming a mother herself at the age of 18. Lavon and Kenneth McCutcheon welcomed their first child, Kenneth McCutcheon Jr. and in the coming three years, they would also have a daughter, Michelle McCutcheon and son Jesse McCutcheon. Ten years later she gave birth to her daughter Marissa Murray.

She spent most of her years in Friday Harbor but she also lived in Eastern Washington for about a decade in the late 1990s. She was drawn back to the islands in 2009 where she spent her remaining years reuniting with old friends, reconnecting with family and living each day of her life to the fullest, always.

Lavon was an artist, she enjoyed drawing, painting, carving and creating mosaics. She was also known for her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. Her garden was a labor of love and she enjoyed sharing her bounty every summer with family and friends. She was the most generous person one could come across and would often give her last dollar to help someone in need.

She loved fiercely and was also loved by many. Her faith in God is what is bringing comfort to all her loved ones who are devastated by her passing. She will forever be missed and is truly irreplaceable.

Lavon is survived by her father, brothers, sisters and children who were mentioned above, as well as her grandchildren: Joshua Fowler; Nathan Fowler; Lucas Fowler; Hailey McCutcheon; Nicholas McCutcheon; Reeve McCutcheon; and Romee McCutcheon.

Funeral services will be performed by Archie Brooks at Valley Cemetery on Sept. 12 at 11:30 a.m., followed immediately by a Celebration of Life at the Grange Hall. To share a memory of Lavon please visit www.evanschapel.com/obituary/lavon-williams.
