Kristofer Ross King | Passages

September 16, 1942 – January 5, 1949

Kris was the firstborn child of Don and Dorothy King. He was born in Seattle and raised on Capitol Hill. After graduating from the U of W, he joined the Air Force and was a pilot during the Vietnam war. Kris stayed very close to those who served with him. Following his military service, he moved to San Juan Island, where he lived for nearly 50 years. Kris felt most at home in nature. He worshiped the sun and water and made sure he always had a boat, a tan, and Labrador! Kris had a talent and passion for designing and building homes – his last home built for himself on SJI.

In his late 60s, Kris met Cassidy, and together they had three children: Grace, Scott, and Eric, all of whom reflect his humor and zest for life. He was very proud of his children and very close to his siblings – Gordy, Carolyn, and Patty. In his final years, Kris settled on Bainbridge Island, where he enjoyed sharing memories with his loved ones. He passed away peacefully with Patty by his side. Known for his quick wit and infectious smile, Kris will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy serves as a reminder to “Grab life and live it to the fullest – it all goes by too fast!”
