Kevin passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 with his wife Linda at his side. He was 63 years old. Kevin and Linda have lived in Friday Harbor for the past 20 years. Kevin met his wife, Linda Jensen, in Seattle while they both worked in the oil equipment industry. They moved to the island in 1998 and were married. They owned and operated Vic’s Drive-in for 18 years in downtown Friday Harbor where Kevin could always be found behind the counter with a big smile. Kevin was a big supporter of the high school football team and youth in general.
Kevin Carl Widmayer was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Sept. 3, 1955. He was the youngest of four children. He attended grade school in Towson, MD and junior High and High school in Media, PA. Kevin graduated from Penncrest High School in Media in 1974 and from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.
Kevin had a happy childhood. He spent a big part of his time playing with his older brothers and sister, and of course playing with all the other kids in the neighborhood. He loved to be outside and spent his youth riding his bike, hiking in the woods, swimming, and playing little league baseball. He was a boy scout as a young teenager and loved camping. As an adult Kevin loved all forms of sports, favoring golf, boating, scuba diving, bicycling and snow skiing.
Kevin is survived by his wife Linda Jensen, his brother Doug, his sister Margaret Fisher, and his aunt Dorothea Widmayer of Sherborn, Massachusetts. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Ellen Widmayer of Bellevue, Washington and his brother Fred.
