Joanne Ferro, a beloved educator and passionate outdoorswoman, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, at the age of 88, with her loving husband by her side in Ferndale, Washington.
Joanne’s career as an educator spanned over three decades, during which she touched countless lives with her dedication and compassion. She had a particular love for the San Juan Islands, where she found both professional and personal fulfillment.
A true lover of the outdoors, Joanne was often found boating on the waters of the Pacific Northwest, reveling in the beauty of nature. She also had a deep passion for rockhounding, where her adventurous spirit met her artistic side. A talented artist, she found joy in creating, and her work reflected her vibrant personality and love for the natural world.
Joanne’s heart was as big as her many interests, and she cherished the people in her life. She had a warm and welcoming spirit, always making friends wherever she went.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ed; two stepchildren; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Joanne’s family, friends, and all who knew her will remember her for her kindness, her love of life, and her zest for adventure.
