Diane Shirley Pinnow passed away at an Alzheimer’s facility on June 7, 2022, she was 86. Diane was born in Havre, Montana on October 12, 1935 to Raliegh and Myrtle Young.
She was raised in Spokane but moved to Wenatchee her senior year and graduated there. She was quick-whited and kind of a goof off wherever she worked. One time while working at a packing warehouse, her friends had to put her initials on her cherry boxes to track how many she went through. Some days she would talk too much or throw cherries at people and not meet her quota of boxes.
Wenatchee is where she met Ed Pinnow and they married Dec. 29, 1956. They had a son, Mike, in 1957, moved to Friday Harbor in 1965 and had daughter Danielle in 1969. Diane loved being a stay at home mom and gardening. Her love for animals started at a young age. Later in life she became a vegetarian and quit buying leather, always saying “no animal is going to die for me.” Next to her family and animals, came the Seahawks and Blue Thunder. She’d go to games early so she could watch them perform before games.
Diane is survived by her husband Ed, children Mike Pinnow and Danielle Pinnow Cochran (Thad), grandchildren Melisa Pinnow and Georgia Gillie (Sean), and great grandchildren Sawyer & Paisley Gillie. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her family requests that honorary donations in Diane’s name be made to: Pasado’s Safe Haven P.O. Box 171 , Sultan, WA 98294 or The Alzheimers Foundation – alzfdn.org.
