Barbara Thompson1939-2022

Barb was born on January 14, 1939 in Portland, Oregon to Vern and Marguerite Woods.

The family moved to Magnolia Bluff in Seattle on April 1, 1947. Barb attended Magnolia Elementary school and made several fast friends that she is still very close with to this day, known as the Magnolia Girls. She graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1956.

In May of 1969 she married John Thompson, which started a lifetime of international travel and adventure, especially to their beloved second home in Manzanillo Mexico.

She belonged to the PEO chapter DL and the Seattle Antique League. She was very active at Ascension Episcopal Church in Seattle and St. David’s Episcopal Church in Friday Harbor.

Barb joined John in real estate when they settled in West Seattle in 1986. She realized her hospitality expertise when they purchased Villa Heidelberg Bed and Breakfast in West Seattle, which they ran for 13 years. Frequent trips to the San Juan Islands lured them away from Seattle. They have lived permanently in Friday Harbor since 2020. Barb is survived by John, her loving husband of 53 years, her beloved son David, his wife Andrea, 3 brothers-in-law, their wives and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents Vern and Marguerite Woods and son Jeffrey Proctor.

Memorials can be sent to Ascension Episcopal Church Altar/Flower Guild; St. David’s Episcopal Church and Hospice Northwest. Memorial services will be held on June 5 at 2 p.m. Church of the Ascension Seattle and June 26 at 2 p.m. St David’s Church, Friday Harbor WA.
