Annette Betty Maas, 93 of Friday Harbor, WA died peacefully at the Village at the Harbour on December 30,2018.
Annette was a loving mother to Dave Maas FH, Steve Maas (Jane Sawyer) FH and Toni LoBue FH. Beloved grandmother to five grandsons, 6 great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
She was born in San Jose, California on April 16, 1925 to Paul and Flora Vizzuso who immigrated from Tricarico, Italy. She was raised in San Jose with her two older sisters, Jessie Brost and Theresa Winters.
Annette married Hal Maas on July 7, 1946. Hal was in the Navy for 20 years and stationed in Indiana, Maryland and San Diego. After his retirement, they moved back to San Jose, CA to raise their three children and to be near her family. Annette is preceded in death by her husband Hal in 1971.
In 1992 she moved to Friday Harbor to be near her children. She loved the beauty and peacefulness of the island. She enjoyed reading and gardening at her home in Hannah Heights. Her family and friends will miss her delicious Italian meals. She drove until she was 91 and her favorite times were driving her Silver 1972 Pontiac Firebird to town for her weekly shopping.
Annette had a giving heart and was known affectionately as the “clothespin” lady at the Village at the Harbour as she lovingly hand painted each clothespin to give to family and friends to use on their chip bags.
Annette will be lovingly missed by her family and friends, always loved and forever in our hearts.
