The Economic Development Council of San Juan County, is pleased to announce that the second round of the Working Washington grants offered by the Washington State Department of Commerce to assist small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak, have been determined by an independent judging committee. Grants to support economic development work done by the San Juan Islands Agricultural Guild, the Visitors Bureau, and local Chambers of Commerce were also made as part of this program

The EDC will notify grant recipients of their award status this week. Qualifying businesses were eligible to receive up to $10,000 as a one-time grant under this program.

The independent scoring committee prioritized eligible applications based on the severity of the impact the business faced due to COVID-19, including being forced to close by the government-mandated closures, social distancing measures, or illness. Funds were extremely limited, amounting to $101,814 in disbursements to 24 businesses throughout San Juan County.
