San Juan Island’s Noah Waldron has been accepted into a medical program at Central Washington University and will be attending the Ellensberg-based college this coming fall.

Born and raised in Friday Harbor, Waldron, 30, joined San Juan Island Emergency Medical Services team in winter of 2008. He is a second generation emergency medical technician and was honored by San Juan EMS earlier this year as its 2011 EMT of the Year.

An avid mountain biker and rock climber, Waldron is also a wilderness medicine instructor and EMT wilderness officer, teaching outdoor enthusiasts as well as outer-island residents how to prepare and stay safe in remote environments. He is also a volunteer fire fighter.

Waldron will become a certified paramedic following completion of CWU’s two-year program.
