Dancing to live music will be a new feature at this year’s “Wags to Riches,” July 25, hosted by the Friday Harbor Animal Shelter.

This will be the sixth annual “Wags to Riches,” the shelter’s major fund-raising event of the year. It will again be held at the home of Bob and Lissa McDowell.

The event will begin at 3 p.m., one hour earlier than in the past.

In addition to a live dance band, the event will feature canine entertainment, a gourmet dinner and spirits.

Among the many items in this year’s live auction: a Mount Baker Sunset Flight for four, a Jaime Ellsworth original painting, Napa Valley wine country excursion with airfare, Monterey golf excursion with airfare, Mazama riverfront cabin vacation, Whistler vacation package, and a “Surf and Turf Extravaganza” featuring king crab and prime steak.

The animal shelter receives no tax dollars from the community; “Wags” is a major source of its capital and operating expenses.

Tickets for the event are $75 per person and are available at the shelter. Call 378-2158.
