Position #3 representing Lopez Island will serve until December of 2026. Members need to be residents of the respective island and share a strong interest in helping make San Juan County a better place!
The Planning Commission is a group of citizen volunteers appointed by the County Council who make recommendations on planning-related matters including the Comprehensive Plan and Development Code. Workshops and public hearings of the Planning Commission are an important public forum where public opinion and advice becomes part of the County’s records and decision-making process.
Meetings are typically held once per month on the third Friday of the month in the morning, but occasionally special meetings may be called to address topics of a specific nature or maintain schedules for large projects. Regular attendance is important as is a willingness to participate collaboratively with the public and staff. To apply, please send an email to sallyr@sanjuanco.com for a volunteer application.
For questions, please contact David Williams, Director of Community Development at davidw@sanjuanco.com or 360-370-7571.
