June 5 brought a treat in the sky known as the “Transit of Venus.” The transit occurs when Venus travels between the sun and the earth. It is an event so rare that no one alive today will likely see it again.
Danielle Dean Palmer captured these magical photos of the transit.
“What an incredible event, it gives you so much perspective on the scale of our solar system,” she said.
Palmer has a bachelors of fine arts from the Columbus College of Art and Design and also studied at the School of Lorenzo De’Medici in Florence, Italy. Her work is included in several private collections and has been exhibited throughout the West Coast. She lives and works on San Juan Island with her husband, sculptor Matthew Gray Palmer.
