Ursula Heiting
March 10, 1917 – Feb. 15, 2009

Born in Hirschberg, Germany, Ursula immigrated to the United States in 1959. She and her family lived in the Seattle area until 1969, when she and her now-deceased husband retired to her beloved log cabin in the woods on San Juan Island.

Ursula courageously fought and beat cancer three times over the last 30 years and her positive outlook in the face of adversity is an inspiration to all who knew her. An avid traveler, she made yearly trips to Europe to visit her daughter and friends, even last summer at the age of 91.

Ursula touched the lives of all she met within her community and during her extensive world travels. She will be remembered for her kind, thoughtful spirit, and her open and accepting heart. Ursula’s nurturing presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but her dauntless spirit will remain.

Ursula is survived by her children, Nick Heiting and Ursula Elvegard; grandchildren, Heike Ursula Burr, Karina Sogge, Monika Heiting Brewer, Klaus Herrmann, Elke Stickelmaier, Melisa Noel, Tristan Heiting Davis, and Alexander Heiting Davis; great-grandchildren, Emily, Forest, Owen, Sophia, Audrey, Lindsay, Kaspar, Wyatt, Rachel, Ursula, Michael, and Kristian.

Please join us for a celebration of Ursula’s life, to be held on March 7, 2009, at the Masonic Hall in Friday Harbor, Wash. Potluck from 1-4 p.m. Second and Reed streets (entrance on Reed, elevator available).
