I am honored to recommend and support Robert “Bob” Low for mayor of Friday Harbor. I have known Bob for seven years and worked under his direction for four of those years. During that time, Bob taught me that, above all else, the people of Friday Harbor are his top priority.

Bob is a proven leader who has the respect of those around him. In his current role as fire marshal for San Juan County, Bob not only utilizes his years of experience in the fire service to investigate all fires in the islands, but he also has the unique ability to pull together various community partners in order to strategize for the safety and security of all residents in the county, including the Town of Friday Harbor.

Bob’s first priority in his role as fire marshall is our safety and the well-being of our families. He takes pride in educating all of us about fire safety, and takes the time to specifically educate our children about the potential dangers involved with fire.

Bob spent eight years as the fire chief and marshal for the Town of Friday Harbor, where he managed and supervised all officers and firefighters. He successfully managed annual budgets, wrote several grants — including the grant that provided the Town of Friday Harbor with the much-needed fire boat Confidence — and he motivated his staff to work with and educate the residents of Friday Harbor.

Bob’s dedication to the Town of Friday Harbor and its residents is seen through his many years of volunteering his time for the betterment of our community. He is the president of the San Juan County Chief’s Association, president of Region 3 Arson Task Force, a hospital commissioner, and an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Bob Low has spent his life protecting and educating the residents of Friday Harbor. He is both community and fiscally minded, and he simply wants what is best for us. As mayor of Friday Harbor, Bob will serve each of us with integrity, professionalism and government accountability.
