Sign up now for Trashion Fashion Show
The Trashion Fashion Show will make its second outrageous exhibition at the fair.

This juried fashion design contest, which is open to all San Juan County residents, has an entry deadline: Midnight Aug. 4. Grab your glue-gun, sewing machine and paint and start collecting your reused, refused collectables and see what over-the-top, oh-so-sophisticated recycled fashion items you can come up with for this once-a-year highlight.

Designers and their models must be available to participate in the dress rehearsal on Aug. 11 in order to be included in the show Aug. 14. For rules and an entry form, visit www.sanjuancountyfair.org or call 378-4310.

The event is produced by the county Solid Waste Advisory Committee and the Fair Board.

4-Hers will clean the fairgrounds Saturday
4-H club members from all islands in the county will converge on the fairgrounds Saturday to clean, repair and paint buildings.

This workday reflects 4-H’s commitment to the fairgrounds, which is used for 4-H activities throughout the year, culminating with the county fair.

With more than 700 San Juan County youth involved in 4-H programs, the effort should show result in considerable improvement to the fairgrounds.

The day’s work plan includes painting inside all 4-H buildings, upgrading the swine barn’s water system, weed-eating the grounds, and cleaning and repairing the horse barn, large livestock pen, and the rabbit and poultry cages.
