The San Juan Island Hospital Commission will meet in “special session” Thursday, Sept. 27, to address points of concern raised in a letter submitted last week by the recently formed Coalition for Health Care Transparency and Equity.

The meeting will get under way at 5 p.m., at the Frank Wilson EMS Building, 540 Spring Street.

In its letter, signed by more than 300 people, the coalition asks that the commission, among other issues, clarify how publicly funded health care is be provided under the district’s 50-year contract with PeaceHealth, which will provide health care services on behalf of the district at its soon-to-be completed Peace Island Medical Center.
