Soroptimists’ Bunko event raises money for ferry tickets for cancer patients

Since May 2005, Soroptimists have provided ferry tickets for islanders who must travel to the mainland for cancer treatment. The need for ferry tickets is greater than ever before. Soroptimists are hoping to spend more than $18,000 this year to fund this project through events and raffle ticket sales. You may even know someone who has been helped with this project. The Soroptimists’ Bunko Party fund-raiser is April 30. All proceeds from this event will go directly to their Cancer Treatment Support Mission.

Since May 2005, Soroptimists have provided ferry tickets for islanders who must travel to the mainland for cancer treatment. The need for ferry tickets is greater than ever before. Soroptimists are hoping to spend more than $18,000 this year to fund this project through events and raffle ticket sales. You may even know someone who has been helped with this project. You can help with your tax-deductible donation.

You can support the Cancer Treatment Support Mission in three ways:

1. Fiesta Bunko Party. Attend the April 30 fund-raiser at Mullis Community Senior Center, 6-9 p.m. You do not need to know how to play the Bunko dice game as it is very easy to learn and lots of fun. Event tickets are $20 and include appetizers and three Bunko games.

Event tickets can be purchased at The Toy Box, Spa d Bune and at the King’s Market and MarketPlace sale tables. Dress for the fiesta and have a great time. Limited seating.

2. Purchase raffle tickets for an opportunity to receive one of several great gifts. Your donations will help cancer patients receive transportation to the mainland for treatments. Event tickets and raffle tickets are available from the Toy Box, Spa d Bune and Soroptimists at King’s Market and MarketPlace.

3. Sponsor the event by mailing a tax-deductible donation to Soroptimist Cancer Mission, P.O. Box 2856, Friday Harbor, WA 98250.
