So far, 14 candidates for 12 of 42 positions on November ballot

Fourteen candidates have filed for 12 of 42 positions on local ballots in San Juan County. Candidates have until Friday, 4:30 p.m., to file their Declarations of Candidacy. Positions that have more than three candidates will go on the Aug. 18 primary election ballot. Positions with one or two candidates will go on the general election ballot.

Fourteen candidates have filed for 12 of 42 positions on local ballots in San Juan County.

Candidates have until Friday, 4:30 p.m., to file their Declarations of Candidacy. Positions that have more than three candidates will go on the Aug. 18 primary election ballot. Positions with one or two candidates will go on the general election ballot.

If no candidate files for a position? There will be a special three-day filing period June 10, 11, 12, Elections Supervisor Doris Schaller said. If there is still no candidate, the incumbent’s term is extended, even if he or she had hoped to leave office.

— Port of Friday Harbor, Commissioner 3: Greg Hertel.

— Port of Orcas, Commissioner 1: Audrey Morrison Wells.

— Port of Orcas, Commissioner 4: Steve Hopkins.

— San Juan Island Park and Recreation District, Commissioner 3: Scott Zehner.
