The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Sept. 9
• A San Juan deputy conducted a traffic stop on San Juan Valley Road and issued the driver a citation for failing to stay in the right-hand lane.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of an agency assist.
• A deputy responded to a citizen assist call on San Juan. The caller has an ongoing issue with a neighbor and requested a trespass letter issued to the neighbor. The neighbor was contacted and a trespass letter issued.
• A deputy in Eastsound was contacted about a found credit card. The owner was not able to be located and the credit card was logged in as found property.
• A San Juan deputy was dispatched to a report of harassment.
• Twice, San Juan deputies were dispatched to reports of a domestic incident. No crimes appeared to have been committed and reports were made.
Sept. 10
• A San Juan deputy was dispatched to a report of domestic violence. After further investigation, a person was arrested for fourth-degree domestic violence assault.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a no-injury accident on Crow Valley Road. The driver had struck a deer the night before.
• A deputy on San Juan was informed of a possible violation of court-ordered conditions of release. A report was completed and forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.
• A deputy responded to a report of alleged harassment on San Juan. The reporting party had been having an ongoing issue with a neighbor and wished to have a trespass letter served. The neighbor was located and issued a trespass letter.
Sept. 11
• A Lopez man was arrested for trespassing, harassing and interfering with a health care facility.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a request to assist Moran State Park Rangers and Orcas Fire and EMS with an intoxicated person. The person was transported to Peace Island Medical Center in Friday Harbor for further treatment.
• A deputy on San Juan tagged an abandoned vehicle with a 24-hour tow notice.
• A deputy on San Juan took a report of a fraud. The incident was documented and a an out-of-state agency was asked for assistance.
Sept. 12
• Two vehicles on San Juan were tagged with a 24-hour tow notice for being posted for sale on a public roadway.
• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of an unwanted person. The subject was escorted off a property.
• A Lopez deputy was called for advice on how to safely remove bats from their home.
• A deputy on Lopez conducted a required address verification check of a registered sex offender.
• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for an expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for not having insurance.
• An Orcas deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Lovers Lane. The driver, a visitor to the island, was subsequently issued a citation for speeding 45 mph in a 25 mph zone.
• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for 60 mph in a 45 mph speed zone.
Sept. 13
• A San Juan deputy responded to a reported vehicle prowl. A subject was found rummaging around their own vehicle.
• Twice, drivers on Lopez received warnings about speeding on the island.
• A deputy received a call about a case of identity theft in Eastsound and filed a report.
• A Lopez deputy was called regarding an ongoing civil dispute between a landlord and a tenant.
• San Juan deputies tagged four vehicles to be towed after 24 hours for being parked and posted for sale on a public roadway for more than 45 days; another was tagged for removal after 24 hours for being abandoned on a public roadway.
• A deputy and Orcas Island Fire and Rescue responded to a motor vehicle collision. The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
Sept. 14
• A San Juan deputy was dispatched to a report of a suspicious circumstance that occurred near Snug Harbor.
• A deputy was dispatched to a report of malicious mischief on San Juan. The caller said their mailbox was damaged over the previous night.
• A driver on Lopez was given a warning for speeding and for not wearing a seat belt.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to report of an abandoned vehicle possibly containing drugs. The person in control of the property was contacted and permission was given to remove any hazardous substance. An old bottle containing prescription medication was removed and disposed of.
Sept. 15
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of attempted fraud from a suspect in another state. Thankfully, the reporting party suffered no monetary loss and a report was generated.
