The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Feb. 10

• San Juan deputies responded to an agency assist to take a defendant into custody. The defendant was booked into jail without incident.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 42 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone. The driver was issued a citation for speeding.

Feb. 11

• A person on Orcas reported they lost an Apple Watch in Buck Park on Feb. 3.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle because the driver did not have a driver’s license. The driver was issued citations for not having a valid license with ID, nor proof of insurance or registration in the vehicle.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to an accident with no injury.

• A deputy received a call reporting threats in Eastsound.

Feb. 12

• A Lopez business reported a theft. A suspect was identified and served with a no-trespass letter.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a theft. The suspect was located and received a criminal citation for third-degree theft.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle because the driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license – third degree, and was issued a citation for not having insurance.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a call about a fraud.

• A deputy on Orcas conducted a traffic stop. The driver was issued a citation for speeding, 42 mph in a 25 mile-per-hour zone.

Feb. 13

• A Lopez deputy responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Ferry Road during a snowstorm. The vehicle was unoccupied and there was no evidence of injury or damage to the vehicle. The owner subsequently removed the vehicle.

• On Lopez, a deputy was sent to check on a vehicle that was stuck in the snow blocking an intersection. The owner was in the process of removing the vehicle when the deputy arrived.

• A Lopez deputy was sent to check on a report that a vehicle had slid off a snow-covered road and become stuck, stranding two people with the vehicle. The vehicle was gone when the deputy arrived.

• A Lopez deputy was sent to check on a report of a vehicle stuck in the snow, blocking the road. In checking the area, no such vehicle was located.

• A deputy came upon two occupied vehicles stuck in the snow partially blocking an intersection on Lopez. Both were pulled out by a passing Good Samaritan.

• A deputy on San Juan observed a 2-wheel drive vehicle sliding on the road and striking a stop sign. The driver was issued citations for not having insurance and having an expired vehicle registration of more than two months.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a citizen dispute.

Feb. 14

• A Lopez deputy was sent to check for a disorderly male with a vehicle stuck in the snow. Neither the subject nor vehicle were found.

• On Lopez, a deputy was sent to investigate a 911 call because it was unclear what the caller needed. Upon arrival, the deputy discovered an ongoing domestic disturbance. After investigating the incident, the deputy determined there was no evidence that a crime had occurred.

Feb. 15

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for defective brake lights and an expired registration. The driver was issued citations for not having a valid operator’s license, no insurance, defective brake lights and a vehicle registration that had expired more than two years ago.

• A member of the community called the Sheriff’s office to report ongoing harassment by a family member. Though no crime had been committed, the caller was provided with instructions on how to obtain a no-contact order.

• A Lopez deputy stopped and ticketed a driver for speeding, 47 in the 25 zone on Fisherman Bay Road near Lopez Village.

Feb. 16

• After the recent snowfall, a Lopez deputy was called with concerns about safety conditions on a private road.

• A Lopez deputy checked a snowmobile that had been parked on the shoulder of Center Road for three days and tagged it as abandoned, pending impound if not removed within 24 hours. It was removed within two hours.

• A Lopez deputy assisted a disabled vehicle at Agate Beach.

• A part-time Lopez resident reported seeing footprints in the snow around his house on the security video system. Upon arrival, the deputy found deer in the yard, and all the tracks in the yard were animal in origin. The house was secure.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for not having a driver’s license. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and was issued citations for not having a valid license with identification, and for not having insurance.
