The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Feb. 12
• A Lopez Island deputy was dispatched to property damage. The incident was investigated and documented.
• An Orcas Island deputy investigated property damage near the West Beach area. It appeared that a vehicle drove off Enchanted Forest Road and damaged a resident’s telephone pedestal. The incident was documented, and photographs were taken.
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a trespassing call at a business in the Eastsound area. The suspect had already left the business by the time the deputy arrived. The business owner filed a trespass notice with the Sheriff’s Office. The trespass notice will be served.
• At approximately 10:22 p,m., an individual walked into the Sheriff’s Office lobby to turn in found drugs. Deputies gathered drugs and processed them into evidence.
Feb. 13
• A deputy was contacted about a theft in the Friday Harbor area. The person reported a bike had been removed from where they left it. A report was taken.
• A San Juan deputy received a complaint of a suspicious person. An investigation revealed no law had been broken. The complainant was referred to the court to request an anti-harassment order.
• San Juan County deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person. The person was found and believed to have sold cannabis products to juveniles. A probable cause statement was written and forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office.
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a civil dispute about the ownership of a dog. The deputy explained to the concerned party that he would need to go through the courts to dispute this concern. Subsequently, the concerned party was a wanted fugitive and was arrested.
Feb. 14
• Orcas Island deputies responded to a death investigation. The investigation revealed no suspicious activity.
• The Sheriff’s Office responded to a mental crisis on Orcas Island. The patient was transported by emergency medical services, and the incident was documented.
• A Lopez deputy conducted a traffic stop on Fisherman Bay Road. The driver was issued a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license in the third degree.
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to an animal-at-large call in the Buckhorn area. A citizen found two dogs without license tags, and the citizen posted photos of the dogs onto social media. The dog owners were found, and the dogs were returned. The owners were referred to the county code as a warning.
• Lopez deputies responded to a reported domestic incident. An individual was arrested for assault in the fourth degree, domestic violence, and resisting arrest.
Feb. 15
• San Juan County deputies responded to a report of an active domestic dispute. The dispute was verbal in nature and parties were separated.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for traveling 43 mph on Guard Street on San Juan Island. The driver was issued an infraction for speed.
Feb. 16
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to an unwanted person report in the Dolphin Bay area. It was later discovered that there was a miscommunication; however, the unwanted person would be trespassed from the property. The incident was documented.
• A deputy on Orcas Island responded to a trespassing complaint. The trespasser was gone on arrival and was not identified.
• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report from a citizen that they were having an issue with some people and wanted to let the Sheriff’s Office know about it. This report is informational only.
Feb. 18
• An Orcas Island deputy responded to a call of threats being made via email. An investigation was conducted, and it was determined the suspect was in Idaho making threats in violation of Washington state law. The investigation was forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for a charging decision.
• A deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a theft. The victim did not want to pursue criminal charges for the theft but wanted the suspect trespassed. The suspect was given a trespass warning letter.
• A deputy on San Juan Island arrested a driver for DUI. The person was processed for the DUI and was booked into the jail.
