State Sen. Don Benton, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, has been endorsed by state Rep. Jan Angel of Port Orchard, Rep. Mike Hope of Lake Stevens, and Steve Hammond, executive director of Citizen Alliance for Property Rights (CAPR).

Benton is running for the position held by Sen. Patty Murray, Democrat. Murray is seeking reelection. Other candidates include businessman Paul Akers, former NFL tight end Clint Didier, and chiropractor Sean Salazar. Didier has been endorsed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Former state Sen. Dino Rossi is widely considered a possible candidate.

In a press release, Angel said Benton is “committed to improving our economy. He will work to lower taxes, put a stop to out-of-control spending, and promote pro-growth policies that will get our economy moving again. He is exactly the person we need to send to Washington, D.C. in this time of economic turmoil.”

Hammond said, “I’m pleased to endorse Senator Benton in this race,” “He has made it his focus to cut taxes, put a stop to reckless spending, and implement pro-growth policies that will get our economy back on track. He will fight to put Americans back to work and help our economy thrive again.”

Hope said Benton “has been consistent in supporting lower taxes, less spending and promoting pro-growth policies. He is the best person for this job; he will help put Americans back to work and help revive our economy.”
