San Juan Island Girl Scouts can change the world, and you can join them

On Monday, Nov. 21 and Tuesday, Nov. 22, Heidi Fish, Community Development Manager with Girl Scouts of Western Washington, will be hosting Parent Information Sessions, 6:30-8 p.m. at the Earthbox Motel’s Orca Conference Room, 410 Spring Street, to learn more about Girl Scouting, registering or volunteering.

Last month, San Juan Island Girl Scouts earned their community service badges at “Children of the Nations” event to learn about global nutrition needs and challenges, and to package meals of lentils, rice, dried vegetables and powdered broth shied to impoverished countries around the world.

The Girl Scouts sampled the same meal malnourished children will eat. This month, the Girl Scouts will be collecting canned food for our local food bank, and will tour the volunteer center to see how those contributions are processed and distributed, Girl Scouts are proving, every day, that one girl can make a difference, and girls together can change the world.

Known as the premier leadership development program for girls, Girl Scouts will be celebrating their 100th Anniversary next year.
