Updated: Samish delayed in Friday Harbor due to law enforcement issues

Washington State Ferries sent out an alert Friday, Oct. 13 at 4:42 p.m. that the Samish was stalled at the Friday Harbor terminal due to an ongoing law enforcement situation.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the ferry landing regarding a report of a female driver being possibly impaired and her male partner allegedly making threatening and racist remarks to a crew member.

The driver was suspected of being impaired, so a DRE evaluation was completed, and the female driver was arrested for DUI. A short time later the boyfriend of the female, was arrested for making verbal threats to kill the arresting deputy. Both were booked into jail and awaiting a first appearance in court on Monday.
