Rep. David Quall, the nine-term state representative who announced his retirement in February, has endorsed Kristine Lytton to succeed him in the House of Representatives.

Lytton, Democrat, is president of the Anacortes School Board. She faces Republican Mike Newman, a Mount Vernon real estate agent, in the Nov. 2 election.

“Kristine Lytton has earned my respect and confidence. I believe that she is well positioned to be an outstanding state representative,” Quall said in a press release. “She has provided unique leadership for the Anacortes School District. In addition, her broad experience as a civic, business, and educational leader prepares her to deal with the complexities of our economic environment.”

Her top Democratic opponents, Tom Pasma and Thomas Boucher, have also endorsed her campaign.

“Though I was able to beat a red tide where many Democrats were in close range to their Republican opponents, I’m not in the clear yet,” Lytton said in the same press release. “And I’m grateful for Dave Quall’s support. His dedication to education has long served as an inspiration to me and I am honored by his endorsement.
