Public meetings Sept. 15, 22, 23 on issues related to Critical Areas Ordinance update

San Juan County will host a series of public meetings — Sept. 15, 22, 23 — on issues related to the update of the county's Critical Areas Ordinance.

San Juan County will host a series of public meetings — Sept. 15, 22, 23 — on issues related to the update of the county’s Critical Areas Ordinance.

San Juan County is reviewing and updating regulations for Critical Areas. These areas include wetlands and fish and wildlife habitat conservation areas, as well as areas that are geologically hazardous or subject to frequent flooding.

Public meetings are scheduled to discuss the following issues related to this update:

— Non-conforming Uses and Structures (Randall Gaylord, Prosecuting Attorney).

— Reasonable Use Exceptions (Jon Cain, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney).

— Buffer Alternatives in Eastsound and Lopez Village Urban Growth Areas (Shireene Hale, Planning Coordinator).

— Sept. 15, 5:30-7 p.m., District 3 Fire Station, 1011 Mullis St., Friday Harbor.

— Sept. 22, 4-6 p.m., Lundeen Room, Orcas Senior Center, 62 Henry Road, Orcas Island.

— Sept. 23, 4-6 p.m., Community Center, 204 Village Road, Lopez Island.
