The Plein-Air Painters of Washington in conjunction with The San Juan Preservation Trust, will again paint the land and seascapes of the island in plein-air, a 19th-century style of painting outdoors with a strong sense of the open air.

The 4th annual plein-air painting event, July 30 from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the south entrance to Turtleback Mountain Preserve, includes live art show and auction, picnic with local food and music.

Dozens of artists from Washington have captured the sights, sounds, and smells of the island settings, culminating with the annual SJPT “summer social” and Art Exhibit at Turtleback Mountain, followed by a one month exhibit of works at Crow Valley Gallery on Orcas Island.

This is the biggest SJPT and PAWA event of the year, and the artists, together with Crow Valley Pottery and Gallery, are donating parts of the proceeds of sales from their works directly to the trust.
