Outage update: cell phone coverage improved, boost in connectivity for Rock Island customers

The latest update from CenturyLink notes improved Internet connectivity for Rock Island customers and better connections for local cell-phone coverage, according to a department of emergency management press release.

CenturyLink has reported two things that should help out some outage impacted islanders:

— All Rock Island DSL traffic is now routed away from CenturyLink infrastructure so Rock Island customers should see much improved connectivity.

— CenturyLink has fixed the problem that was leading to extensive problems with dialing local cell phones. Some tests by DEM seem to confirm this.
