Opening reception for new exhibits at IMA | Slideshow

Three new artists are showcasing their work at San Juan Island Museum of Art through the fall

The opening reception at IMA gave the public its first glimpse of the new exhibits that will go through the fall, and gave visitors the opportunity to speak with local artists Kathy Venter and Joe Miller.

Kathy Venter’s Immersion Series features terra-cotta sculptures suspended in air in the museum’s atrium, and will be at the museum until Dec. 14.

Michael Dailey’s show Early Dawn to Late Twilight features fifteen large-scale acrylics that introduce vast translations of landscape interpreted through time and space.

Joe Miller‘s exhibit consists of various works of “watercolor in rice paper” spanning the decades of his life as an artist, and includes a poem written by him titled Unlike Earth. Dailey and Miller shows will go until Nov. 9.
