The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
April 24
• A San Juan deputy responded to an agency-assist at the hospital. The person involved was admitted for medical treatment. A report was forwarded to Adult Protective Services.
• A deputy responded to a medical issue at the sheriff’s office in Friday Harbor involving an inmate. The subject was transported to the hospital.
• A Friday Harbor deputy cited a driver failing to signal a turn. The driver had an out-of-county warrant and was taken into custody.
• Orcas deputies were dispatched to an active dog fight. Orcas Fire and Rescue responded to evaluate one of the owners who had been bitten multiple times.
April 25
• Lopez deputies were notified of possible child abuse. Child Protective Services investigated.
• A Lopez deputy was called about an abandoned vehicle.
• A deputy on San Juan responded to an animal at large. The deputy was able to reunite dog and owner.
• A deputy responded to a trespassing complaint. A trespass letter was generated and will be served.
• An Orcas deputy responded to a non-injury wreck near Olga. The at-fault driver was issued citations for not having proof of insurance, for having wheels left of center and for improperly displaying tabs.
• A deputy in Friday Harbor issued a driver a citation for having expired vehicle registration and a warning for a defective taillight.
April 26
• San Juan deputies responded to a report of graffiti.
• A Lopez man was arrested for a local warrant. Bail was posted, and the man was released pending further court action.
• A Lopez deputy responded to an illegal camping complaint on Tower Drive. The owner of the RV stated he was not aware that it was illegal to park his RV in Lopez Village and sleep in it overnight. A verbal warning was given.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a driver for failing to wear a seat belt. The driver was issued a citation for the seat belt violation and was given warnings for an obstructed license plate and expired registration.
• A San Juan deputy pulled a motorist over for failing to wear a seat belt. A citation was issued for the seat belt violation and warnings were given for having an obstructed license plate and defective brake light.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist for failing to wear a seat belt. A citation was given for driving without insurance, and a warning was given for failing to wear a seat belt.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist for having a defective brake light. The driver was arrested for driving without an ignition interlock and given a citation for driving without a license.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist for having an obstructed license plate. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and given a citation for the obstructed plate.
April 27
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a burglary complaint.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist for having an obstructed license plate and failing to wear a seat belt. The driver was issued citations for failing to wear a seat belt and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. A warning was given for the obstructed plate.
April 28
• A Lopez deputy and emergency medical services responded to a deceased person.
• A Lopez deputy stopped and ticketed a driver for speeding 50 mph in a 35 mph zone on Ferry Road.
• A deputy on Orcas issued a driver a warning for speeding.
• A deputy on Orcas issued a driver a citation for speeding.
• A debit card was found in Lopez Village and turned in to the sheriff’s office.
• A Lopez deputy received a credit card that had been found in the parking lot of a Lopez Village business.
• A deputy was dispatched to an order violation in the Friday Harbor area.
• An Orcas deputy was dispatched to a theft call near Olga. A farm-stand cash box was broken into, and the contents were taken. There are no suspects.
• An Orcas deputy conducted a traffic stop near Eastsound. The driver was issued a citation for speeding 46 mph in a 35 mph zone and given a warning for not having registration with the vehicle.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist for an obstructed license plate. The driver was given a citation for driving without a license and a warning for the obstructed plate.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist for not displaying a front license plate on their vehicle. The driver was given a citation for operating a vehicle without insurance and a warning for the license plate.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist for using their cell phone while driving. The driver was given a citation for using their phone and warnings for failing to have registration in the vehicle, having expired registration and not obtaining a Washington license after moving.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist for a missing front license plate. The driver was given a citation for driving without a license and a warning for the missing license plate.
April 29
• Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a report of a disabled and drifting boat. The vessel was located and identified. The U.S. Coast Guard was able to hail the vessel. The individuals on the boat reported having engine problems, but were not in need of assistance.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a hit-and-run complaint.
• A deputy on Orcas conducted four different traffic stops. The drivers were all given a warning for speeding.
• An Orcas deputy responded to a report of an unconscious person in a vehicle.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a report of a dog running at large. He was unable to locate the dog.
• A deputy on Orcas issued a driver a citation for speeding.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a welfare check. The subject was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
• Orcas deputies received a report of a vessel that had run aground. The operator of the vessel was believed to be impaired and had a warrant for his arrest. The subject was arrested and booked into jail without incident.
• A San Juan deputy arrested a driver for driving with a suspended/revoked license in the third degree. The driver was released with citations for not having insurance and failing to carry registration in the vehicle.
• A San Juan deputy issued a driver citations for that and operating a vehicle without a insurance.
• A San Juan deputy stopped a motorist for a defective brake light and expired registration. The driver was given citations for the brake light, expired registration and operating a vehicle without insurance.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a juvenile problem.
• A Lopez deputy issued a warning to a driver for speeding in a school zone.
April 30
• A San Juan deputy responded to a walk-in report of a school bus sign violation that occurred on the previous day.
• A deputy responded to a delayed report of a theft on San Juan Island. The caller reported items missing from her residence and believes her ex-boyfriend is responsible.
• A vehicle was stolen from the Orcas Senior Center. It was found abandoned in a field the next morning. It was towed to the Orcas substation, processed for evidence and released to the owner.
