Larry Paul Arnold Eldred passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 30, 2011, at the age of 54.

He was in Bellingham where he received hospice care and was surrounded by those that loved him.

Larry was born in Seattle and brought to Friday Harbor when he was three days old.

The family lived in what was known as the creamery house in town.

The family moved to the mainland when Larry was still a baby.

Larry attended Kings Garden Christian School until he moved back to Friday Harbor at the age of ten. Larry and his dad built the family home on Egg Lake road.

He graduated from Friday Harbor High School and never hesitated to give Emily Reed the credit — she never lost faith in him. Of course football was his favorite class.

Larry had a full and interesting life.

Family and friends were the most important thing in the world to him. His relationship with the Lord is what kept him strong through good times and bad times until the end. He wanted to be a good witness, and in his own way — always was.

Fishing was one of the joys of his life. His last eight years, with his health failing, and working as a security guard at Browne’s Lumber was a miracle to him.

He loved his family there, and his “littleshack”.

Larry never missed a sunset at south beach, after everyone else had driven away thinking the sunset was over, he stayed to see what he lovingly referred to as the “Afterglow”.

Larry was preceded in death by his dad, Del Eldred, step-dad, John Horst; niece, Tina Pederson, cousin, Dennis Grove, and uncles, Arnold “Bud” Eldred and Arthur “Bud” Grove.
