Peace Island Medical Center will commemorate its one-year anniversary with an Open House and a celebration of “firsts” in the arena of local health care, Sunday, Nov. 17, noon to 4 p.m.
Peace Island Medical Center, a collaboration between PeaceHealth, San Juan Island Hospital District and the San Juan Island Community Foundation hospital steering committee, opened its doors in late November a year ago.
PIMC officials note the medical center has been the home to many “firsts’ in San Juan Island health care over the past 12 months:
— first life-saving emergency blood transfusion;
— frist pediatric procedural sedation for lumbar puncture;
— first cardiac treadmill for emergency department patient;
— first emergency department mental health evaluation.
The medical center also provides access to drug-eluting stents, minimally invasive valve surgery, thoracic surgery and onocolgy.
A shuttle will provide free transportation between the ferry landing in Friday Harbor and the PIMC during the anniversary celebration.
PIMC is located at 1117 Spring Street.
